"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”- W.B. Yeats
About me:
I was incredibly fortunate to spend most of my time growing up on a horse farm near Birmingham, Alabama. I typically spent my time working or riding horses and learned communication skills, patience, problem solving abilities, and work ethic that I still utilize today. I also enjoyed volunteering at Special Equestrians, a therapeutic riding center. Therapeutic riding and giving back to others was an important component of my youth and one which will play a vital part in my future.
I graduated high school in 2011 and came to Auburn in August as an Animal Sciences student, and quickly fell in love with agriculture. I discovered Food Science during my junior year and decided to pursue degrees in both fields. While a member of Auburn's Food Science Club, I participated in a food product development competition and discovered my interest in food product development. I am passionate about the challenges we will face in the future to feed a growing population, and am eager to begin my career solving these problems in the food industry. Educating others about agriculture has been an important part of my time here, and I plan to see that continue as I enter my career.
In my spare time I enjoy working with horses, reading, board games, baking, and artwork.
